I’m not going to lie, fellow travelers. It’s been a pretty uneventful couple of weeks for me. Because of this I’ve had a bit of a hard time coming up with topics for these forum posts. I’ve basically just been job hunting, and getting down to the boring parts of settling into a new town (and no one wants to read about that).
I did get a chance to go out and play disc golf in San Jose yesterday, and meet a couple of the local enthusiasts. I had played a couple of times in LA, with a couple of friends who were either previously, or at the time of the game, much more avid players than I think I will ever be. The course in San Jose was only nine holes, and had a very different feeling than the course in Los Angeles, not only because of the change in scenery, but because this course was not attached to a public park. The only other people we saw there were other disc golf players. Most of them had disc bags (one had a stroller carrying his equipment!), and they all looked like this was something they participated in regularly.
This got me thinking: if I was a dedicated player, I would probably make it a point to visit a disc golf course during my travels, every chance that I got. I’m sure it’s this way for tennis players, golfers, hikers and other outdoorsy types. So tell me- what is an outdoor or athletic activity you look for or make sure to partake in when you travel?
Note: the photo is not from the course I went to (it's from a course in San Francisco), but it's a really pretty picture.
